Meet Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Landau
Mission & Philosophy
I have a great love and passion for what I am allowed to do everyday and that is dentistry. My satisfaction regardless of the complexity of the procedure that I am performing is the personal connection that I am able to establish with my patients. This stems first and foremost from my caring about them as a person and the trust that they have instilled in me to treat them with respect, integrity and with the level of skill and experience that is unsurpassed and which gives them a profound sense of confidence. I am allowed to do something everyday that makes someone healthier and that can literally change how they feel about themselves and change the way that the world perceives them on a daily basis. My practice has grown one patient at a time, from referrals from our own patients, other dentists and physicians for which I am grateful on a daily basis as I take this as my highest compliment.
The Art & Science of Dentistry
Dr. Landau began his artistic interests when he was very young. His grandmother was a prolific sculptor working in clay & wood & he would spend significant time with her developing the skills that she would teach him. He also spent years working with his father in the family’s wood shop designing & building furniture, turning vases & anything else that they could imagine. His father also taught him the art of photography both with the camera & in the darkroom. As his father’s “real job” was a clinical microbiologist and medical school professor, Dr. Landau saw first hand how science and art could be combined into a profession that he has become so passionate about.
Dr. Landau earned his dental degree from Northwestern University dental school. He then completed a General Practice Residency at the prestigious Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago where he trained under some of the most well know dentists, periodontists and oral surgeons in the country today. He was a continuous student after the completion of his residency where he continued his training in cosmetic, implant and reconstructive dentistry and studied with some of the foremost experts in these fields. As a result, he has developed a specialization for these procedures and has a reputation for great expertise in these areas.
Positions Held & Dr. Landau the Educator and Author
After completing his residency at Michael Reese Hospital & Medical Center, Dr. Landau was asked to become a member of their attending staff. In this capacity, he taught dental residents in the fields of cosmetic as well as hospital dentistry. He was then asked to become the Section Director of Dentistry & Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie, Illinois, a position that he held for 15 years. He provided consultation and treatment for pre-cardiac and orthopaedic surgery patients, patients with head and neck infections and also treated mentally & physically disabled children and adults in an operating room setting. He served on the Surgical Advisory Committee, Tumor Board, and Medical Library Committee.
He still is presently on the attending staff at Northshore University Health Systems. As his interests in cosmetic dentistry expanded, he began lecturing to local dental study groups & has lectured nationally & internationally on the subjects of cosmetic and implant dentistry. He also was on the teaching staff at the Center for Esthetic Excellence in Chicago, Illinois teaching dentists from around the world how to do composite artistry. Dr. Landau published the book, Atlas of Cosmetic Dentistry: A Patient's Guide, a highly acclaimed source of information for patients and dentists interested in cosmetic and dental implant procedures. This book is published by Quintessence Publishing and is sold worldwide. It's filled with before-and-after photographs of his patients, and enriched with explanations for a full spectrum of dental problems and solutions.
While Dr.Landau’s residency training gave him the expertise to excel in the fields of cosmetics, implant and reconstructive dentistry, approximately one-third of his practice is still devoted to general dentistry. He feels that while his interests & training have taken him to the highest complexities of dental treatment, he is completely devoted to helping each of his patients achieve their ultimate level of dental health. He believes that there is no such thing as a “simple” filling or restoration. He enjoys and maintains the same level of focus, pride and perfectionism to restore one tooth as he would an entire mouth. He welcomes all patients whether they need significant treatment or just need to be seen by our excellent hygienist to get their teeth cleaned.

Dr. Landau believes in the following quote from Dr. John Billings:
The education of the doctor which goes on after he has his degree is, after all, the most important part of his education.
